Position Overview

Under the general direction of the Lead, Access and Transition, the Manager, Utilization is responsible for: Coordination the overall utilization framework in conjunction with all programs and services operating with the WRHA and our provincial flow framework; implementing site, regional and provincial policies and processes related to patient flow. The position serves as the site contact in dealing with access issues, generating and analyzing utilization data in conjunction with all related stakeholders and performing other related duties as assigned. 

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience demonstrating knowledge and skill and success in patient transitions/flow within a combination of hospital and community healthcare settings.
  • Clinical/Health Services Manager experience an asset.
  • Utilization Experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of and experience with using Medworxx, Oculys, EDIS in clinical setting required.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Bachelor Degree in relevant healthcare discipline, Master's preferred.
  • Educational preparation in utilization/transitions an asset.

 

SPECIAL TRAINING:

  • Certification in and /or experience with a quality framework such as Lean, Six Sigma, PDSA, TQM an asset.

Certification/Licensure/Registration

  • Current registration with professional licensing body.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Ability to lead and support change and innovation in patient flow and transition best practices, while promoting integrated approaches to patient care and delivery.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to initiate and maintain effective resource contacts.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with all levels of management.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and problem-solve.
  • Demonstrated ability in utilizing computerized applications, such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Demonstrated skills in assisting with development of policies, procedures and analysis of patient flow/utilization indicators.

Physical Requirements

  • Primarily days, Monday-Friday. 
  • Some weekend work may be required.

 

 

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
