Position Overview
Reporting to the Clinical Manager of the Operating Room and Medical Device Reprocessing, the Supervisor of Medical Device Reprocessing plays a key role in supporting Concordia Hospital’s vision, mission, and values in the promotion of health care services integration and excellence.
The Supervisor of the Medical Device Reprocessing (MDR) is responsible for receiving, processing, storage and distribution of all sterile supplies and equipment. The supervisor is responsible for the supervision of the Medical Device Reprocessing department and providing training and direction for all staff in the department.
Experience
- Minimum of five years medical device reprocessing experience in an acute health care setting.
- Experience in risk management and quality improvement methodologies.
- Experience in financial management and accountability preferred.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
- Complete grade 12 education required.
- Certification/successful completion of a Medical Device Reprocessing Technician program (Red River College or equivalent) required.
- Diploma or certificate in management/supervision, or a suitable combination of education and experience.
Qualifications and Skills
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other supply chain management software.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the concepts, techniques and processes of medical device reprocessing and infection control issues.
- Demonstrated knowledge of inventory control and distribution of equipment and supplies.
- Knowledgeable in occupational hazards, safety precautions and regulations applicable to the area of supervision or able to acquire within a reasonable period of time.
- Adheres to all safety and health regulations and demonstrates safe work practices.
- Sound knowledge and understanding of reprocessing of reusable critical and semi-critical medical devices following the Canadian standards Association and Accreditation Canada Reprocessing Standards.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
- Customer oriented skills including interacting effectively with all stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, adjust variable workloads, prioritize assignments, implement service changes and meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to function well in high-stress situations.
- Strong analytical skills for problem identification, solving, and decision-making.
- Demonstrated strong organizational skills and able to prioritize requests and departmental needs effectively and efficiently.

- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with all interdisciplinary staff as well as leadership and supervisory abilities.
This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
