Position Overview
Under the general supervision of the Manager Health Services - Operating Room (OR), and while demonstrating a commitment to the Mission, Values and Management Philosophy of St. Boniface Hospital, the Slating Clerk is responsible for: accurately scheduling all patients requiring elective and emergency surgery; entering data regarding the patient’s surgery into the computer system; receiving and relaying information required by all members of the surgical team and patient care areas; maintaining the desk and supply area; and performing other related duties as assigned.
Experience
- One (1) year related experience.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
- Grade 12, or recognized equivalent.
- Successful completion of a recognized Medical Terminology course.

Qualifications and Skills
- Keyboarding speed: 45 wpm.
- Knowledge of computer systems and proficiency in the use of common software such as word processing and spreadsheet applications.
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
- Ability to retain information which is of a confidential nature.
- Polite and courteous telephone manner.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to adapt readily to fast-paced situations.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
