Position Overview
Under the general supervision of the Program Manager, Subspecialty Critical Care, and the direction of the Registered Respiratory Therapist, while demonstrating a commitment to the Mission, Values and Management Philosophy of St. Boniface Hospital. The Respiratory Therapy Assistant - Student is responsible for assisting the Respiratory Therapist in a non-clinical fashion to provide respiratory care to patients at St. Boniface Hospital.
Experience
- Previous related experience working with Respiratory Therapy Equipment and/or in the general field of respiratory therapy preferred.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
- Manitoba High School Diploma (or equivalent).
- Currently enrolled as a 2nd or 3rd year student and in good standing in an accredited Respiratory Therapy Education program (Preference will be given to students of the Max Rady Faculty of Health Science: Respiratory Therapy Program students).
SPECIAL TRAINING:
- On-the-job training (up to 6 months) is provided by the Respiratory Therapy Department.

- Basic computer and keyboarding skills required.
- Proficiency in English comprehension, written and verbal communication skills.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift heavy medical equipment (up to 45 lbs.).
- Ability to push wheeled medical equipment.
- May be exposed to infectious diseases, blood and body fluids, radiation, toxic materials, noise, and allergens.
