Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.
Position Overview
With the general supervision of the Manager - Patient Transport/Equipment Services, the incumbent is responsible for maintaining equipment managed by the Patient Equipment Depot. This includes collection, cleaning, distribution, repair and/or initiation of repair process. The incumbent works closely with the Patient Equipment Technical Assistant, Unit and Department staff, Patient Transport Assistants, Clinical Engineering Department, Housekeeping Department and Maintenance Department to ensure availability of safe patient equipment for use within the Health Sciences Centre.
Experience
- Previous related experience preferred.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
- Grade 12 education, Manitoba standards, required.
- Must successfully complete on the job Cushman Cart Training within three months and lifts and transfers training within three months. Staff must also complete on the job wheelchair and bed moving training within three months.
Certification/Licensure/Registration

Qualifications and Skills
- Must have good organizational skills and be able to communicate in an effective manner with all levels of staff.
- Preference will be given to those applicants competent in an Indigenous language and/or knowledge in Indigenous customs, traditions and values.
- Typing 40 wpm required.
- Knowledge of computer programs (e.g. basic Microsoft Word/Excel and Outlook required).
Physical Requirements
- Good manual dexterity required.
- Considerable walking, bending, pushing and pulling required in the transport and maintenance of equipment throughout the Centre (e.g. pushing wheelchair, stretchers, etc.).
- Moderate lifting required (e.g. mattress maintenance).
