Position Overview
Reporting to the Program Support Manager, Pharmacy, while demonstrating a commitment to the Mission, Vision and Values of St. Boniface Hospital, the MANAGER, PHARMACY PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE AND CLINICAL INFORMATION SYSTEMS is responsible for ensuring that the operation of the department is in accordance with the standards and regulations of the profession, overseeing related day-to-day operations of the Pharmacy Department and performing other related duties as required. As a member of the Department’s Leadership Team, the incumbent ensures that pharmaceutical care services are aligned with strategic priorities and meet high standards of quality and patient safety.
Experience
- Five (5) years’ experience as a practicing pharmacist and three (3) years’ experience as a Hospital Pharmacist required.
- Two (2) years supervisory experience is preferred.
- Administrative experience would be an asset.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
- Bachelor of Science, Pharmacy required.
- Postgraduate education/training in Pharmacy would be an asset.
- Advanced studies in Management (Business or Health Administration) would be an asset.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
- License to practice Pharmacy in Manitoba required.
- Membership in the Canadian Society of Healthcare Systems Pharmacy is required.
Qualifications and Skills
- Working knowledge of Pharmacy computer information systems is preferred: Electronic Patient Record, BDM, and Pyxis.
- Knowledge of computer systems and proficiency in the use of various common software applications such as spreadsheet, word processing, database, internet and email applications required.
- Evidence of strong organizational and time management skills in a multi-tasking environment.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated interpersonal communication, facilitation, negotiation and conflict management skills.
- Ability to interpret and apply collective agreements.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities and human resource management skills.
- Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication abilities.
- Project management skills to plan, organize and coordinate multiple activities.
- Knowledge of hospital pharmacy practice including computerized unit dose, unit dose packaging equipment and intravenous admixture systems, and narcotic and controlled drug requirements.
- Knowledge of regulations and acts governing the profession of Pharmacy in Manitoba.
- Discretion and confidentiality in all hospital and patient related matters is maintained.
- Demonstrated interest in professional growth.
- Demonstrated commitment to optimizing the contribution that pharmacy services can make to the care of individual patients and to the health care system as a whole.
