Position Overview

Reporting to the Manager Materiel Management and under the direction of the Buyer/Supervisor, Materiel Management Services, the Linen Services Aide performs a variety of duties relative to the provision of laundry/linen services at the Riverview Health Centre (“RHC”).

Experience

  • Experience working in laundry preferred (i.e., operation of commercial washers, dryers and labelling equipment).

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Grade 10, Manitoba Standards, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Knowledge of relevant Workplace Safety and Health responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of computerized inventory system (SAP).
  • Ability to safely operate a Cart Caddy for the transportation of heavy linen cage.
  • Ability to express ideas and thoughts in English both verbally and in written format.
  • Ability to select appropriate communication methods pertinent to the situation.
  • Computer skills including accessing the Intranet, sending/receiving emails and working knowledge of computer applications including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and SAP.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to listen and comprehend effectively.
  • Ability to organize workload and set priorities.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and in a team environment as required.
  • Ability to provide good customer service as required.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to work safely without injury to self, to patients/residents, or to other staff.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive interpersonal relationships with patients/residents, family members and coworkers.

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
