Position Overview

Reporting to the Support Services Manager the incumbent is responsible for:

  1. Prioritizing the workload and performing a variety of cleaning and related services within the facility ensuring that other housekeeping staff have completed their assigned duties.
  2. The incumbent must have the ability to work independently.
  3. Ensure infection control and universal precautions are followed.
  4. Must consistently and appropriately meet all standards of cleaning.
  5. Communicates staff performance, concerns and other issues to the Manager of Support Services.

Experience

  • At least three years cleaning experience required.
  • Previous work experience in housekeeping and laundry in a long-term care setting preferred.
  • Two years of lead hand experience required.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Complete Grade 12 education, Manitoba Standards, required.
  • Completion of a University certificate course in the Management of Cleaning and Environmental Services preferred.
  • Completion of recognized course in management and supervision an asset.

Certification/Licensure/Registration

  • Must possess a current certificate from the Manitoba Safety Council or equivalent certificate for the Ariel Lift Platform and/or Lift Truck Operator or be able to attain within three (3) months of start date.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, organizational skills and ability to work effectively as a team member and leader.
  • Must possess excellent knowledge of cleaning chemicals and related services is required.
  • Must be proficient in speaking, writing and reading English.
  • Ability to work independently and to provide leadership to others. 
  • Ability to direct and coordinate staff.
  • Demonstrates concern and interest in giving the quality care in the cleaning of the facility.

Physical Requirements

  • Incumbent is required to stand, reach, bend and lift, climb and stretch for sustained periods of time in order to perform tasks.
  • Ability to attend work on a consistent basis.
  • Must be able to withstand short periods of strenuous activities and perform duties while working on lifts, platforms and ladders on a regular basis.
  • The incumbent must be able to work with all types of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Must be able to work a variety of shifts when required.
  • Compliance with workplace safety protocol is required.

 

 

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
