The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

Position Overview

The Digital Health program vision is that:

Digital Health responds to health information needs through the effective and efficient use of information management processes, tools and technologies.

Digital Health leads by being a supportive catalyst for change, changing not just the information technology, but also the clinical and business processes that applications and systems support.

Under the mandate of this vision, the Digital Health Clinical Informatics Specialist – Pharmacy participates on Digital Health projects to support clinical process transformation and provides operational support to current implementations.

Main Function:

Reporting to the Digital Health Clinical Informatics Manager, and as part of a team of clinical analysts within Digital Health Services, with a matrix reporting relationship to a project manager, the incumbent provides pharmacy expertise to the clinical analysis effort on Digital Health Services projects, working directly with customer leadership to:

  • Provide operational support to current implementations.
  • Lead the analysis, redesign and documentation, of clinical processes and subsequent documents.
  • Facilitate the elicitation, documentation and management of clinical and business functional and information requirements.
  • Facilitate the definition of operational and system management requirements.
  • Guide the development and execution of test plans.
  • Lead the development and execution of training plans.
  • Identify all stakeholders who will be affected by the changes identified in the project.
  • Assess stakeholder readiness for these changes.
  • Develops, in consultation with the Digital Health Change Management Specialist, clinical adoption strategies and detailed change management plans.
  • Lead change management and clinical adoption activities across all aspects of the project.
  • Facilitate the coaching of clinical leaders in change management principles and their practical application in a project context.
  • Facilitate clinical adoption support at the time of implementation and manage adoption obstacles as they arise.

Experience

  • The following experience is required:
    • At least 5 years' experience in hospital pharmacy practice.
    • 3 or more years’ experience in healthcare management.
    • Knowledge of clinical pharmacy systems used in patient care and the associated information flow.
    • Experience working with a major project is an asset.
    • Experience with workflow process transformation and organizational change management.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or equivalent undergraduate pharmacy degree is required.
  • Post-graduate education/training in a relevant field of study and/or completion of a hospital residency program is preferred.
  • Formal education in Business Administration, Computer Science, Project Management or a related field an asset.

Certification/Licensure/Registration

  • Licensed, or eligible for licensure, as a pharmacist in the Province of Manitoba.
  • Membership in the Canadian Society of Hospital Pharmacists is required.
  • Valid driver’s license required.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Strong group facilitation skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including presentation and instructional skills.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experienced and comfortable consulting with senior management.
  • Computer literacy, as a user of desktop tools, is essential.
