Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

 

Position Overview

Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

Main Function:

To provide a safe environment for all patients and staff through the application of approved engineering concepts and repair methods relative to systems used in patient care areas.

The Imaging Equipment Technologist is responsible for servicing radiological equipment and radiological related equipment throughout the service area. Examples include Nuclear Medicine Equipment (SPECT/CT), general radiographic equipment, computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance scanners (MRI), digital cardiac and angiographic equipment, and accessory equipment.

Experience

  • Minimum three years’ experience servicing imaging equipment required.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Graduation from an Electronics Technology or specific Biomedical Engineering Technology program from an accredited educational institution required.

Certification/Licensure/Registration

  • Registration with CTTAM (Certified Technicians and Technologists Association of Manitoba Inc.) required.
  • Must have, or obtain within 3 months of completion of experience eligibility requirement, certification as an Engineering Technologist by CTTAM (Certified Technicians and Technologists Association of Manitoba Inc.).
  • Certification as a Certified Biomedical Engineering Technologist (CBET(c)) with The Canadian Board of Examiners for Biomedical Engineering Technologists and Technicians would be an asset.

Qualifications and Skills

  • The position requires a demonstrated knowledge of Anatomy and Physiology. Can be obtained by CD, class, distance or self-study, if not previously obtained.
  • Good English communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Must have good organizational and time management skills, the ability to grasp concepts quickly, and a strong customer service focus.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision, both independently and as part of a team.
  • Must be able to work under pressure and make decisions using sound judgement.
  • Proficiency in PC use and office productivity software applications such as word processor, spreadsheet and database is required.

Physical Requirements

  • Position involves walking fairly long distances, long periods of standing, and lifting equipment, supplies, parts, etc., (approximately 25 kg).
  • At times, may be required to push or pull heavy equipment.
  • The position routinely involves working with small delicate instrumentation requiring manual dexterity and normal vision, with or without correction.
  • Incumbents may be exposed to solvents used as cleaning agents for solder flux remover, switch cleaners and other chemicals used in electronic maintenance.
  • May be required to travel throughout the service area requiring a valid Manitoba driver’s license and use of a personal motor vehicle.
  • Must possess a valid passport and ability to travel to the United States for training as required.
