Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

 

Position Overview

To provide a safe environment for all patients and staff through the application of approved engineering concepts and repair methods relative to systems used in patient care areas.

 

The Dialysis Technologist will be responsible for the technical aspects of all patient care equipment within the Renal Program for both in-centre and Home Hemodialysis. The major responsibility is, ensuring that all complex medical devices used within the program and quality control of all technical aspects of different dialysis modalities are maintained at a high degree of efficiency to ensure effective, safe dialysis of the patient.

Experience

  • Working knowledge of plumbing, hydraulics and electrical installations.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Graduate of a recognized 2-year Electronic Engineering Technology Program.
  • Senior matriculation with mathematics, chemistry and physics.

Certification/Licensure/Registration

  • Membership in CTTAM or eligible for CTTAM certification.
  • Must have a valid Manitoba driver’s license.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Must have good interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Demonstrates initiative.
  • Interest in upgrading of skills in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Ability to work in a computerized office system environment.
  • Travel throughout Manitoba supporting the Home Hemodialysis program.

Physical Requirements

  • The incumbent will be required to perform duties in patient isolation rooms, patient care areas under occupied conditions, and emergency conditions and must be able to handle pressure in crisis situations.
  • The incumbent is also exposed to general shop maintenance conditions, areas having tight physical spaces, hot and dusty conditions with high noise levels, lifting equipment, and exposure to chemical fumes may be encountered.
