Position Overview
Reporting to the Supervisor, the incumbent is responsible for preparing and cooking meals for clients. Days of work will vary during the week and weekends.
Cooks will work as members of the team and demonstrate the following:

Experience
- A minimum of 2 years experience in quantity cooking.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
- Graduate of recognized cooking course at the technical or community college level and/or a suitable combination of education and experience.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
- Food Handler Certification is required.
- Valid CPR and First Aid certification is an asset.
Qualifications and Skills
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of food service sanitation standards including personal hygiene, and kitchen safety practices.
- Candidates should possess strong organizational, interpersonal communication skills and the ability to handle a varied workload.
- The incumbent must have the ability to deal effectively with staff and clients.
- An understanding of, and sensitivity to, working with culturally diverse populations is essential. Knowledge of the addictions field is an asset.
Physical Requirements
- Must be physically capable of performing duties assigned including the ability to lift and carry weights of up to 40 lbs.
This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
