Job Summary:

 

The Screening Program Follow up clerk (Clerk IV) is responsible for performing a variety of clerical administrative tasks required to initiate and complete diagnostic follow up of abnormal screening test results. This includes:

  •  Communicate (oral and written) abnormal screening test results to Screening Program clients
  • Process follow-up diagnostic referrals due to an abnormal result
  • Establish and maintain communication with Screening Program Staff, physicians and facility staff
  • Collect, enter, and report on follow-up test results. 

 

 

Qualifications:

 

Education 

  • Graduate of a Medical Office Assistant program or equivalent from an accredited educational institution.

 

Experience

  • Minimum of two years of relevant health care experience.
  • Experience in a healthcare clinical environment that involved interaction with patients and the public
  • Experience with database management and word processing.
  • Experience with electronic patient charts (EMR) and word processing, including Microsoft Office Suite and Internet.
  • Experience communicating difficult information to the public is an asset 

 

An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

  • Ability to work independently and participate as a positive member within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Exceptional organizational and problem-solving skills.
  •  Ability to work with a high level of confidentiality.
  • Proven resourcefulness in making positive changes to processes and workflows.
  • Knowledge of population health and Cancer Screening Programs.

 

Other

  • Must have satisfactory employment record
  • Must be legally able to work in Canada
  • Ability to speak French is considered an asset
