Salary - $20.798 - $24.836 (depending on experience)

 

POSITION SUMMARY

 

Reporting to the Adult Day Program Coordinator and Manager of Resident Experience this position assists in the delivery of Adult Day Program services through programming, social support and minor support care for ADL’s.

 

EDUCATION

 

  • Completion of Grade 12 education or equivalent
  • A Certificate in Therapeutic Recreation and/or a Health Care Aide Certificate would be an asset
  • A valid Food Handler Certificate (level 1) must be attained once selected

 

EXPERIENCE

 

  • 2 years of experience working with older adults
  • Past work experience in a healthcare setting would be an asset

 

 

SKILLS

 

  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work with participants who may have mental and physical impairments. Understanding of cognitive impairment
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Knowledge of infection control practices
  • Practices confidentiality and adheres to current privacy acts relevant to PHIA and FIPPA
  • Computer skills

 

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPOSIBILITIES

 

  • Serve and supervise meals and refreshments for day program participants.
  • Set up and take down for group programming.
  • Assist in planning, organizing, and facilitating recreation programming.
  • Focus on choice programming for participants.
  • Encourage social communication and participation amongst participants.
  • Awareness of participant’s care needs including allergies, special diets, etc.
  • Documentation such as attendance, charting, and assistance with reports
  • Assist in promotion of Adult Day Program via Social Media, etc.
  • Support for ADL’s as required, such as toileting assistance.
  • Direction and supervision of volunteers as required
  • Communicate any significant changes or challenges experienced by participants to the Adult Day Program Coordinator. 
  • Other duties as assigned.
