Position Overview
Reporting to the Lead - Supply Chain Management, the Procurement Specialist is responsible for coordinating day-to-day purchasing and vendor relations in the site Logistics & Supply Chain Management department. The incumbent ensures optimal levels of supplies and equipment are maintained and accessible to units and departments.
The incumbent exercises the appropriate level of initiative and independent judgment in determining work priorities, work methods to be employed and action to be taken on unusual matters. The position functions in a manner that is consistent with the mission, vision and values; and the policies of Southern Health-Santé Sud.
Experience
- Minimum three-year (3) relevant experience in procurement.
- Previous experience working with MS Dynamics GP is considered an asset.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
- Post-secondary education in Supply Chain, Business Administration, Health Management, Management Information Systems an asset.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
- Enrollment in a relevant certification program is considered an asset (such as SCMP, APICS, CIM, CPIM).
Qualifications and Skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications and Email.
- Knowledge of Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) and Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG).
- Knowledge of Safe Work practices and familiarity with Manitoba Workplace Safety and Health Act and Regulations.

- Requires a valid Class 5 driver’s license, an all-purpose insured vehicle and liability insurance of at least $1,000,000.
Physical Requirements
- Demonstrated ability to meet the physical and mental demands of the job including occasional lifting of up to 50lbs.
- May be required to work in a variety of temperatures including excessive heat or cold.
- No hazardous or significantly unpleasant conditions.
- May work evenings and weekends as necessary.
- Will be required to travel to other facilities as required.
