Position Overview

The Clerk 2 - Long-Term Care (LTC) provides clerical support and reception services to the Personal Care Home/Transitional Care Unit. The incumbent is required to respond to internal and external requests that support the site, initiatives, and maintain accuracy of local databases. The Clerk 2 demonstrates knowledge and skills in general office procedures while communicating in a pleasant and courteous manner when dealing with people. The Clerk 2 works with Personal Care Home/Transitional Care staff to find and report on department information as needed.

 

The incumbent exercises the appropriate level of initiative and independent judgment in determining work priorities, work methods to be employed and action to be taken on unusual matters. The position functions in a manner that is consistent with the mission, vision and values; and the policies of Southern Health-Santé Sud.

Experience

  • One (1) year previous experience working in an office environment.
  • Previous experience working in long-term care/transitional care.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Grade twelve (12) education or equivalent.
  • Completion of an Administrative/Office training program.
  • Other suitable combinations of education and experience may be considered.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and Outlook/email.
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated decision making and problem-solving skills and abilities.
  • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as member of a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to show attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish effective and professional working relationships with management and staff, residents/patients and their families.
  • Given the cultural diversity of our region, the ability to respect and promote a culturally diverse population is required.
  • Proficiency of both official languages is essential for target and designated bilingual positions.
  • Demonstrated ability to respect confidentiality including paper, electronic formats and other mediums.
  • Good work and attendance record.
  • Requires a valid Class 5 driver’s license, an all-purpose insured vehicle and liability insurance of at least $1,000,000.

Physical Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to meet the physical and mental demands of the job.
  • No hazardous or significantly unpleasant conditions.
  • May work occasionally evenings and weekends as necessary.
  • Will be required to travel to other regional facilities as the position duties may require.
