Position Overview

Providing health services across the continuum of care, Southern Health-Santé Sud is a progressive, responsive, and designated bilingual (English/French) health authority located in southern Manitoba, covering an expansive area and serving the province’s fastest growing health region.

 

Working with an engaged Board and leading a committed and experienced executive team, this is an opportunity to provide executive-level leadership as Chief Executive Officer of Southern Health-Santé Sud (SH-SS) and to build upon a strong foundation of community impact, to envision and create a sustainable and vibrant future for SH-SS, and to ensure the organization’s continued relevancy and impact in serving its constituent communities.

 

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO of Southern Health-Santé Sud is the senior-most executive responsible for the overall strategic leadership, operational oversight, and mission alignment of the organization. The CEO ensures that SH-SS fulfills its purpose and successfully executes on its strategic priorities. In advancing the regions strategic plan and priorities, the CEO also ensures the development of innovative solutions and responses to new and emerging needs among communities in the region. This work is grounded in the vision and mission of the organization and is inspired and guided by the core values and foundational principles of SH-SS.

 

In providing overall leadership to the organization, the CEO is expected to lead in a manner that best reflects the interests of the organization and its communities, employees, volunteers, partners, the public, government, and other stakeholders while upholding the values of SH-SS. As the primary spokesperson for SH-SS, the CEO is responsible for advocacy efforts on behalf of the organization, and for maintaining open and transparent communication with the Board of Directors. This includes working with the Board to achieve the goals outlined in Board-approved strategic priorities founded in the strategic plan, while also incorporating the CEO’s own unique vision, expertise, and innovation in expanding, refining, and implementing these strategic priorities.

 

The position of CEO is accompanied by additional appointments to a variety of provincial health working groups and committees as well as community stakeholder committees within the region.

Physical Requirements

  • Regular travel within the SH-SS health region.
  • Occasional travel to Winnipeg and other health regions within Manitoba.
  • A valid Class 5 driver’s license.
