Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient- centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

 

Position Overview

Reporting to the Director of Research and Analytics, the Workforce Analyst will provide research, analytical, data analysis and modeling support for provincial Health Human Resource (HHR) planning activities. The individual will provide research and data analysis for the development of service utilization workforce models, analyzing current and projected healthcare service utilization to predict workforce needs.

The position will support the development of workforce models through data mining, analysis, and reporting. The incumbent will support the development, tracking and reporting of provincial and regional workforce metrics to support decision making. The role involves conducting research and analysis to develop position papers in support of health human resource planning initiatives.

Experience

  • 3 years of experience in information analysis and reporting, dashboard development, data management, and the promotion of data quality and integrity.
  • 3 years of experience working with large or complex data sets, preferably health administrative, clinical or financial data systems.
  • 3 years of experience in leading projects, conducting research, developing options and formulating recommendations.
  • 2 years of experience in quantitative analysis involving, modeling, and forecasting. Experience in quantitative analysis related to workforce planning is desired.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Post-secondary degree in a quantitative discipline including but not limited to economics, statistics, epidemiology, computer science, mathematics and business administration from an accredited post-secondary institution.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Certification/Licensure/Registration

  • Current registration in good standing with regulatory body if applicable.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Proficiency in the use of data visualization and reporting tools (e.g. Power BI, Cognos, Tableau, etc.).
  • Demonstrated knowledge and direct experience performing data retrieval and transformation including use of structured query language (SQL).
  • Proficiency in the use of statistical software packages (e.g. SAS, SPSS, etc.) and knowledge of programming language (R, python, T-SQL etc.).
  • Theoretical and working knowledge of health workforce issues is considered a desired asset.
  • Strong analytical problem-solving skills, as well as excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proven ability to communicate complex technical work to a non-technical audience.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to work safely in a typical computerized office environment with frequent meetings.
  • Interruptions to respond to questions are common; incumbent can schedule dedicated and focused time for planning and concentration.
