Volunteer Engagement and Life Enrichment Manager 2024-183-SB

The Volunteer Engagement and Life Enrichment Manager provides visionary leadership, management and mentorship of volunteer services, life enrichment programs and spiritual health in a long-term care setting.  The shared team goal is to be thoroughly devoted to delivering quality of life opportunities so that residents may live well and receive a quality of care that is centred on body, mind and spirit. The Volunteer Engagement and Life Enrichment Manager ensures quality of life experiences are seen, heard and felt by all who live and work at Actionmarguerite.  The incumbent will provide services to all Actionmarguerite living environments. This position involves collaborating with residents, families, the leadership group and the interdisciplinary team to: help execute on strategic goals that promote a good life; build volunteerism at Actionmarguerite; and manage therapeutic recreation and spiritual health programming to enhance the lives and wellness of residents. Performs all duties in accordance with established health and safety regulations/guidelines, policies and procedures (i.e. utilizing personal, protective equipment as per safe work procedures).  Notifies management or supervisor of all occurrences, injuries, illnesses or safety and health concerns which are likely to harm themselves, their co-workers, or any others who enter the premises.


Service and Assignment: Care and Service
Starting Date: As soon as possible
Shift and Hours of Work: 1.0FTE - full-time - hours of work currently 08:00 to 16:15
Pay Scale: As per established salary scale
Specifications: This position provides services to our multiple sites. Assignment and hours of work are subject to change at any time as per operational requirements.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor of Recreation Management and Community Development;
  • Recognized Volunteer Management Certificate;
  • Affiliation with Volunteer Management Professionals of Canada required;
  • Formal management preparation is an asset;
  • Knowledge and skills of leisure and spiritual health program development and implementation for older adults;
  • Combination of education and experience may be considered.

 Experience

  • Minimum four (4) years of experience in a management and leadership role;
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience supporting a Volunteer Services program;
  • Experience working in a unionized environment is an asset;
  • Experience in long term care, geriatrics or gerontology and individuals with developmental disabilities is an asset;
  • Experience working with youth, seniors and newcomers to Canada is an asset.

 Abilities and Skills

  • Communicate in both official languages (French and English) or an expressed commitment to learn some French in support of active offer is required;

  • Present and communicate effectively using different communication methods as needed and in a variety of formal or informal settings both inside and outside the organization.
  • Ability to function in a computerized environment with programs such as Better Impact, Microsoft Office suite and virtual communication resources (e.g. Zoom and Teams).
  • Ability to utilize external online platforms, including but not limited to Volunteer Manitoba, Volunteer Match, Volunteer Management Professionals of Canada, Volunteer Canada, Indeed, etc.
  • Familiarity with community resources.
  • Ability to demonstrate a satisfactory employment record, including attendance.
  • Current Criminal Record Check for the Vulnerable Sector and Adult Abuse Registry Check deemed satisfactory by the Employer.

 Knowledge

Demonstrates knowledge and supports:

  • The Canadian Code of Volunteer Involvement;
  • Work routines and staff scheduling, preferably using Quadrant Workforce;
  • Multiple job classifications and collective agreements, including Human Resources practices;
  • Actionmarguerite’s Vision, Mission and Values and Resident Bill of Right, policies and procedures;
  • Workplace Health and Safety and safe work practices;
  • W.H.M.I.S. program.
This position is designated bilingual (French/English). All Health Care Aides are hired for the facility. Employees may hold more than one position in different Actionmarguerite facilities, where the sum total of hours does not exceed 1.0 full-time equivalence.
