Job Summary:
Working as part of a team, under the supervision of the Clinical Resource Therapist, the UC/UA is responsible for the efficient provision of support, reception and clerical functions for the Outpatient Clinic Services department. Deals with patients, general public, health professionals, and other hospital personnel. The incumbent provides:
- A variety of clerical duties including scheduling all patients for treatment and procedures, answers telephones and inquiries, receives patients, documents their arrival, and directs them to appropriate areas.
- A variety of unit assistant duties including transporting patients, maintaining supplies and linens and routine tasks to maintain the tidiness of the area.
- Maintains patient confidentiality at all times according to CCMB policy and PHIA. The incumbent is required to participate in the accomplishment of Organization goals and ROP objectives.
Qualifications:
Required:
Level of Formal Education & Experience
- Health Unit Clerk and Health Care Aide Certificates.
- Minimum two years demonstrated experience in a related professional health care field.
- High school graduate (Grade XII or equivalent) including 40s English course (or equivalent).
- Certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support. (BCLS)
An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Skills and Abilities
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational, customer service and problem solving skills.
- Ability to adapt to stressful situations.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team setting.
- Excellent computer skills.
Physical Requirements
- The ability to perform physically demanding tasks i.e. transferring and transporting patients in wheelchairs and on stretchers within the CancerCare/HSC campus for distances up to 1 km, lifting bags of linens

- Must be legally able to work in Canada
Preferred:
Ability to speak French
