Unit Clerk (2024-024-SB)

The Unit Clerk is responsible for performing various secretarial, clerical and resident care support functions. Also responsible for the maintenance of health records’ transcribing and processing Physician orders, as well as the resident Roam Alert monitoring system and other related functions to all our sites and service contracts.

Starting Date: February 26, 2024
Shift and Hours of Work: 1.0FTE - full-time - days, currently 08:00 - 16:15
Pay Scale: As per established salary scale.
Specifications: Assignment and hours of work are subject to change at any time as per operational requirements.
Closing Date: February 13, 2024

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent or completion of a recognized secretarial or community college program as well as the completion of a medical terminology course;
  • Unit Clerk Program Certificate required;
  • Ability to communicate in both official languages (French and English) is required;
  • Experience with personal computers in a Windows environment and proficient in Word processing;
  • One (1) to two (2) years experience in a similar position or setting;
  • Experience with health records an asset.
  • Mental and physical health to meet the demands of the position;
  • Proven ability to plan, organize work and to work effectively with the Resident Care team;
  • Must be able to retain information on a confidential basis;
  • Must have good interpersonal and organizational skills, as well the ability to work independently;
  • Ability to manage and meet deadlines;
  • Must have initiative and judgement to organise and maintain flow of work and accuracy of records;
  • Must be flexible and have above average organizational skills;
  • Has a demonstrated positive and caring attitude towards the elderly and the handicapped;
  • Ability to demonstrate a satisfactory employment record, including attendance; and
  • Current Criminal Record Check for the Vulnerable sector and Adult Abuse Registry Check deemed satisfactory by the Employer.
This position is designated bilingual (French/English).  All staff are hired for the facility. Employees may hold more than one position in different Actionmarguerite facilities, where the sum total of hours does not exceed 1.0 full-time equivalence.
