POSITION SUMMARY

The NorWest Co-op Teen Clinic Counsellor will provide onsite direct counselling support for NorWest Teen Clinics at variety of five outreach sites and Access NorWest. This position will also provide on-site direct support at Teen Clinics hosted by select partner organizations. The counsellor will provide indirect support to partner agencies in the form of education, consultation and resource development.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, or Master’s Degree in related field.
  • Minimum two years’ counselling experience with youth.
  • Knowledge of brief intervention therapy, solution-focused, and narrative therapy.
  • Knowledge of crisis intervention and harm reduction principles.
  • Experience in group facilitation and presentations.
  • Experience with statistical tracking and completing funder /government reporting.
  • Knowledge of youth mental health resources and community development principles and practices.
  • Knowledge and experience with diverse cultural groups, LGBT2SQ+ youth and gender issues.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work well within an interdisciplinary team in a variety of settings.
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrated decision making abilities.
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Records (Accuro) an asset.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
  • Child/elder abuse and criminal records check required.
