Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.
Position Overview
- Performs cardiology examinations of high-diagnostic quality.
- Assists the physician in Exercise Testing examinations.
- Initiates emergency procedures in accordance with Hospital and Departmental policies on patients in distress (i.e., Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation).
- Completes appropriate section of Cardiology requisition and ensures that all requisitions contain the necessary information.
- Enters pertinent information into the MUSE system as per Regional Standard.
- Performs clerical duties as required (reception/filing/typing).
- Cleans and makes minor repairs to equipment and reports any malfunctions immediately to Director, Respiratory Therapy/Cardiology.
- Maintains the cleanliness of assigned work area and assists in keeping it stocked.
- Communicates any change in procedure or equipment and supplies to Director, Respiratory Therapy/Cardiology.
- Reports incidents or problems involving patients or staff to Director, Respiratory Therapy/Cardiology.
- Ensures proper use and care of equipment in work area.
- Administers patient care as required.
- Assists with new product evaluation as required.
- Adheres to all rules, regulations and policies of the Department.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Experience
- Recent experience as a Technologist preferred.
- Experience in Exercise Testing and Holter Monitoring preferred.
- Satisfactory employment record required.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
- Successful completion of a Cardiology Technology Program from a recognized educational institution.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
- Successful completion of C.A.C.T registration examination, required.
- Current registration with M.A.C.T. and C.A.C.T.
Qualifications and Skills
- Ability to work with minimum supervision.
- Flexibility and independence in planning work.
- Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills.
