Job Summary:

 

The Systemic Therapy Program (STP) Staff Pharmacist supports the safe, effective, and standardized delivery of systemic therapy services across Manitoba. Working as part of the Systemic Therapy Program (STP) and Pharmacy Operations teams, the pharmacist contributes to the development, implementation, and maintenance of tools, processes, documentation, and systems that enable safe medication use.

 

Reporting to the Director of Pharmacy Operations, the STP Pharmacist works under the direction of the Senior Pharmacist, Provincial Initiatives, to ensure alignment with provincial standards, compounding requirements, and systemic therapy workflows.

 

The STP Pharmacist supports medication-use system processes, compounding recipe development, operational workflows, provincial standardization activities, and quality initiatives across systemic therapy sites. The incumbent participates in provincial and SDO working groups, supports education material development, contributes to process improvement activities, and serves as a resource to staff.

 

Note: The successful candidate will be working with hazardous materials on a daily basis. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and training are provided. Primary working hours are Monday to Friday day shifts.

 

Qualifications:

 

Required:

 

Level of Formal Education & Experience

 

  • Entry-to-practice academic credential in Pharmacy from an accredited Canadian university program or the approved equivalent if internationally educated as determined by the College of Pharmacists of Manitoba (CPhM)

 

  • 2 years of recent experience as a Pharmacist in the Health System is preferred
  • Oncology experience is preferred

An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

 

 

Skills and Abilities

 

  • Ability to evaluate and support medication-use workflows and safe medication practices.
  • Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Demonstrated competency in pharmaceutical calculations
  • Strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Flexibility and independence in planning work to meet demanding schedules
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Ability to create and maintain effective working relationships with other individuals
  • Demonstrated system-thinking in daily work
  • Ability to use and learn new software programs and apply those skills to implement and support medication systems
  • Understanding of pharmacy structures and operations, standard policies and practices is an asset

 

Required Licenses, Registrations, Designations

 

  • Active license and member in good standing with the College of Pharmacists of Manitoba 
  • Canadian Association of Pharmacy in Oncology membership is considered an asset

 

Physical Requirements

 

  • Standing, lifting, and repetitive motion
  • High levels of visual concentration for precise work
  • Extensive computer use
  • Ability to work under stress and time constraints
  • Occasional extended hours may be required
  • May be exposed to infectious diseases, blood and body fluids, toxic materials, noise, allergens,
  • Routine work with hazardous materials (PPE and training provided)
  • Maintains current sterile compounding validation in accordance with Pharmacy Department policies, including competency assessments and required revalidation intervals

  • Must have satisfactory employment record
  • Must be legally able to work in Canada
  • Ability to speak French is considered an asset.
