Position Overview

Under the general direction of the Manager, Housekeeping and Laundry, and while demonstrating a commitment to the Mission, Values and Management Philosophy of St. Boniface General Hospital, the SUPERVISOR HOUSEKEEPING is responsible for coordinating the daily Housekeeping operations within an assigned facility area. This includes supervising, training, providing orientation, carrying out performance appraisals, and monitoring the work performed to ensure that the quality and quantity of work are in accordance with established standards; and performing other related duties as assigned.  

Experience
  • Five (5) years of cleaning experiences with at least two (2) years in a supervisory capacity in a medium to large hospital setting
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Grade XII or recognized equivalent
  • Certificate in Management of Cleaning and Environmental Service preferred
  • Completion of recognized courses in management and supervision is preferred

 

NOTE: An equivalent combination of education and experience, as deemed recognized by the hospital, may be considered in lieu of the above. 

Qualifications and Skills
  • Mature, professional manner
  • Knowledge of computer systems and proficiency in the use of common software applications such as word processing, internet and email applications
  • Strong commitment to a team environment and promoting excellence in customer service and continuous quality improvement
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
  • Ability to interact well with others
  • Ability to retain information on a confidential basis
  • Demonstrated knowledge of modern housekeeping equipment and methods
  • Ability to interpret and verify basic financial reports
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to walk/or stand through most of a shift

Salary commensurate with education and qualifications.

 

The Collective Agreement this position is covered under, is identified by the Union noted above.  As a result of The Health Sector Bargaining Unit Review Act, the bargaining agent for this position may differ from the Union identified.  In the event you have any questions, please contact your site Human Resources Department.

 

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
