Position Overview

The incumbent is responsible for the provision of efficient secretarial support to the assigned physicians within the Department. Establishes and maintains effective and efficient office systems.

Experience

  • Two (2) years previous related experience requiring considerable communication with senior level management staff.
  • Experience with internet-based survey tools (i.e. Survey Monkey) preferred.
  • Experience with data acquisition, basic data analysis, and data processing preferred.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Complete high school education, Manitoba standards, required.
  • Successful completion of a recognized medical secretarial training program required. A combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Medical terminology required.
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training requirements for this position shall be in accordance with the Employer policy.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Keyboarding speed of 60-70 words per minute.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, and Access) required.
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to demonstrate good judgment, initiative, and diplomacy, and have the ability to coordinate workflow and develop efficiencies.
  • Excellent planning, organization, project and time management skills are required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with limited guidance and supervision.
  • Works within the Centre's core values, philosophy, vision, C.Q.I. goals, policies and procedures.
  • Assumes responsibility for ongoing education and participates in professional activities for personal and professional growth.

Physical Requirements

  • Physical health to meet the requirements of the position.
  • Considerable sitting.
  • Considerable repetitive wrist movement.

 

 

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
