Job Summary:

 

Reporting to the Program Manager, the Statistical Programmer 1 will perform basic statistical analysis work for routine statistical programming, interpretation and communicating of results and conduct quality control checks to provide insight and inform improvements within CancerCare Manitoba (CCMB) Screening Programs (BreastCheck, Cervix Check, ColonCheck and LungCheck).

 

With daily oversite and supervision from the Evaluation Coordinator, this position will enhance data collection and reporting to include information that is relevant for building clinical analysis including but not limited to:

 

  •  Gathering, manipulating, cleaning, and verifying the integrity of data used for analysis within the Programs. 
  • Integration of data collection, including time-series data, and data sets 
  • Debugging critical technical issues with data and providing prompt resolutions 
  • Highlight technical issues and challenges and propose creative solutions 
  • Building metrics, from conception to useful data sets and data pipelines 
  • Working with large data sets to extract information to be applied to CCMB operations, business processes and/or organizational change projects or initiatives 
  • Creating, developing, auditing and monitoring reports, metrics, indicators and processes. 

 

Qualifications:

 

Education:

 

  • BSc in statistics, computer or health sciences or related field from an accredited educational institution. 
  •  Other degrees and working experiences in epidemiology, statistics or related disciplines with an emphasis on the use of statistics may be considered. Page 2 of 3 60 Experience 
  •  Minimum 1 year experience writing statistical programming that cleans, manipulates and analyses a variety of administrative and clinical health data. 
  •  Minimum 1 year experience using statistical analysis software (R, SAS, SPSS) for management and analysis of large datasets. 
  • Experience working with large population databases is preferred. 
  • Ability to link databases and merge date from various sources. 

An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

 

Skills and Abilities

 

  • Working knowledge of statistical software including R and SAS. 
  •  Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, and Outlook). 
  • Ability to work independently and with a team. 
  • Strong organizational, critical thinking and problem-solving skills. 
  • Strong communication (oral and written) skills. 
  • Demonstrated attention to accuracy and detail. 

 

Required Licenses, Registrations, Designations 

 

  • Active member in good standing of an associated regulatory body, as appropriate. 

 

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

 

  • Must be able to work safely in a typical computerized office environment.
