Position Overview

Within a team context and under the general supervision of the Manager, Child Health, the incumbent is responsible primarily for provision of clinical services to a pediatric population consisting of both inpatients and outpatients: assessment, director intervention in group and individual contexts, indirect or intervention (e.g., home programming, parent training). Program development, education and in-services, outcome evaluations, patient/family counselling and quality improvement activities are integral components of the position.

Experience

  • Previous experience with the pediatric population is required.

 

Victoria General Hospital has a mandate to provide service in French; preference will be given to bilingual (French/English) candidates.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited/recognized University is required.

Certification/Licensure/Registration

  • Basic Life Saving (CPR) training is required.
  • Must be registered with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Manitoba (CASLPM). Membership in other professional organizations is encouraged; for example, Speech-Language and Audiology Canada (SAC) and the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA).
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training requirements for this position shall be in accordance with the Employer policy.

  • Ongoing participation in relevant courses, workshops, etc.

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
