Position Overview

Reporting to the Manager of Social Work, the Social Worker provides clinical Social Work services to residents, patients and their families; participates in an interdisciplinary team; consults with health care and community agencies; participates in the Admissions Assessment team; participates in Centre and community committees; participates in professional development activities; and performs basic administrative tasks.

Experience

  • At least two years clinical experience in geriatrics and/or health care.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Bachelor of Social Work degree from a Canadian Association for Social Work Education (CASWE) accredited school/faculty, or a provincially conferred post-secondary program, or the approved equivalent if internationally educated, required.

Certification/Licensure/Registration

  • Must be registered with the Manitoba College of Social Workers.

Qualifications and Skills

  • General knowledge of Manitoba healthcare system.
  • Knowledge of theoretical basis for practice appropriate for population, program planning and evaluation, community resources for population, interdisciplinary team approach, and health and social issues relevant to population.
  • Ability to provide professional assessment and intervention, interact effectively in interdisciplinary team, communicate effectively, provide consultation to health and community care professionals as required, practice with a high-degree of independence, participate in program planning and evaluation, and create an organized individual working environment.
  • Thorough, flexible, reliable and cooperative.

Physical Requirements

  • Valid Manitoba driver's license and reliable vehicle required.

 

 

This term position may end earlier as outlined in your collective agreement.

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
