Skill Development Worker
Casual Term – until March 31, 2026

SUMMARY
The overall objective of the Skill Development Worker is to assist with development and delivery of community programs in the Inkster community area focusing on the Health Equity community areas. The Skill Development Worker will work in the Community Resource Centres to improve access and provide outreach and programming directly in the community by implementing programs in response to community identified needs. The position is part of the Community Development and Resource Centre Team.  The Skill Development Worker will ensure goals and objectives of NorWest Co-op are incorporated into all programming. This position will be based at the Blake Gardens Resource Centre.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma, required
  • Bachelor’s degree in social sciences an asset. 
  • Minimum 1-year experience working with community
  • Knowledge of community development and planning experience
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Empathetic, non-judgmental approach.
  • Ability to work well within an interdisciplinary team in a variety of settings
  • Knowledge and experience with diverse cultures and economic backgrounds.
  • Ability to work well in a community setting.
  • Experience with social media
  • Experience with program delivery, especially in the youth, food-based or cultural programs.

Salary: $17.757-$21.537 per hour (as per CUPE collective agreement)
