Job Summary:
Under direction of the Director of Pharmacy Operations, and in collaboration with the Pharmacy Leadership Team and Systemic Therapy Program, the Senior Pharmacist, Practice Development and Education provides support and leadership in the areas of competency assessment, staff development, coaching, mentorship and the development and maintenance of educational tools and resources for oncology pharmacy practice in the province.
The Senior Pharmacist collaborates with internal and provincial partners to establish standards for safe, timely and equitable treatment of Manitobans with cancer throughout the province.
Note: The successful candidate will be working with hazardous materials on a daily basis. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and training are provided. Primary working hours are Monday to Friday day shifts with occasional weekends and statutory holidays.
Qualifications:
Education
- Entry-to-practice academic credential in Pharmacy from an accredited Canadian university program or the approved equivalent as determined by the College of Pharmacists of Manitoba (CPhM).
- Post-secondary degree in a related discipline or a Year 2 Pharmacy Residency is an asset
- Post-graduate training or degree, including, as applicable, education in areas of advanced clinical practice, quality, education, or informatics preferred
Experience
- Completion of an accredited Year 1 Pharmacy Residency program
- 4 years of direct experience in a collaborative practice setting in a related field will be considered equivalent for candidates who do not have a residency
- Oncology experience is required
An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to mentor and coach other team members
- Strong clinical skills and knowledge of current clinical and practice trends
- Demonstrated system thinking in day to day work.
- Analytic, time management and work prioritization skills
- Ability to use and learn new software programs and apply those skills to implement and support medication systems.
- Demonstrated written and oral communication skills
- Comprehensive understanding of pharmacy structures and operating models, day to day operations, and standard policies and practices is an asset
Required Licenses, Registrations, Designations
- Active license and member in good standing with the College of Pharmacists of Manitoba
- Canadian Association of Pharmacy in Oncology membership is considered an asset

- May encounter aggressive and/or agitated clients/visitors/staff
- Standing, lifting, and repetitive motion.
- Extensive use of eyesight and concentration for precision work.
- Extensive use of computers.
- Must be able to work under stress and time constraints.
- May be required to work day, evening, and weekend shifts.
- May, on occasion, be required to work extended hours.
- May be exposed to infectious diseases, blood and body fluids, toxic materials, noise, allergens, physical and emotional stress.
