Job Summary:
The Senior Financial Analyst will identify, design and deliver recommendations for improvements to enhance efficiency of various financial services, systems, processes and procedures at CancerCare Manitoba (CCMB). This position will examine and interpret data to produce useful and meaningful reports and provide insight into problem identification, data interpretation, and the identification, investigation, testing and refinement of potential solutions to address systemic barriers to efficiency and quality care. The Senior Financial Analyst will provide support for financial forecasting, budget maintenance, reporting and operational metrics tracking. Independently or as part of a team, Senior Financial Analysts supports CCMB to identify, design and suggest improvements which produce efficiencies within the organization.
Working as assigned with a customer-centric mindset, each position will be assigned to support various Departments, projects and improvement initiatives.
- Ensure financial transitions affecting Departments are accurately reported in monthly Department financial reports within established timeframes.
- Proactively review results with Department managers/directors on a regular basis, analyze variances, reposed to management requests and concerns, and make recommendations to improve financial data quality and accuracy.
- Assist in the preparation of budget and forecast reporting providing insight from and to Department managers based on historical financial transactional knowledge.
- Support management with information and guidance to coordinate and assist in the development of the annual budget plans and ensure that plans are within approved funded levels.
- Create financial data and financial models to support decision making
Qualifications:
Education
- Post-secondary degree in a related discipline such as management, economics, public or business administration from an accredited education institution; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
- Additional formal education in diverse and innovative financial business data modeling, funding and commissioning models in the public sector, and systematic process improvement methodologies (such as the lean transformation framework) are assets
Experience
- 3 years of progressive experience in accounting and finance
- 3 years experience working with complex financial analysis and data, financial forecasting, reporting and operational metrics tracking
- 3 years experience interpreting and translating financial metrics
- 2 years experience working with interdisciplinary teams and supporting multiple internal and external stakeholders
An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of business accounting practices and Public Sector Accounting standards an asset
- Experience using the finance and accounting modules of a comprehensive ERP system (e.g. QHR, SAP and/or Great Plains) is preferred
Required Licenses, Registrations, Designations
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation with current membership in good standing is required
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
- Must be able to work safely in a typical computerized office environment with frequent meetings at multiple sites throughout the organization, and to lift and carry items
- Interruptions to respond to questions from executives and government representatives are common; incumbent can schedule dedicated and focused time for planning and concentration
