Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient- centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.
Position Overview
The Senior Digital & Social Media Specialist plays a strategic role in shaping and delivering a strong, trusted, and engaging digital presence for a healthcare organization. This role is responsible for leading social media strategy, managing complex digital campaigns, and ensuring content reflects the organization’s commitment to patient-centred care, equity, and public trust.
Working within the Shared Health communications team, the position will work closely with clinical leaders, and system partners, the Senior Specialist translates complex health information into clear, accessible, and meaningful digital content that resonates with diverse audiences — including patients, families, staff, partners, and the public.

Key Responsibilities:
- Strategy & Leadership
- Lead the development, creation and execution of an integrated digital and social media strategy aligned with organizational priorities, values, and public health goals.
- Act as a senior advisor on digital trends, platform evolution, and best practices in healthcare communications.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to other members of the communications team in creating content that supports their work.
- Contribute to issues management, reputation management, and crisis communications from a digital lens.
- Content & Storytelling
- Oversee and create compelling, accessible, and inclusive content across social platforms (e.g., Instagram, X, Facebook, LinkedIn).
- Translate complex clinical, operational, and system-level information into clear, audience-appropriate digital messaging.
- Elevate patient, caregiver, and staff voices through thoughtful storytelling that reflects compassion, trust, and accountability.
- Ensure all content meets accessibility standards, health literacy best practices, and brand guidelines.
- Campaigns & Engagement
- Plan and execute digital campaigns supporting organizational initiatives, public health messaging, and system priorities.
- Monitor and actively manage online engagement, including responding to public inquiries and issues in a timely, professional manner.
- Collaborate with internal and external partners to amplify reach and impact.
- Analytics & Performance
- Lead digital performance measurement, using analytics to evaluate effectiveness and inform continuous improvement.
- Prepare insights and reports for senior leadership, translating data into clear recommendations.
- Optimize content and campaigns based on audience behavior, platform insights, and organizational goals.
- Governance & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with privacy legislation, health information standards, and organizational policies.
- Support digital governance processes, including approvals, moderation standards, and platform management.
- Contribute to risk mitigation related to misinformation, sensitive topics, and public trust.
Experience
- 5–7 years of progressive experience in digital and social media communications, ideally within healthcare, public sector, or a highly regulated environment.
- Demonstrated experience leading digital strategy and managing complex, high-profile content.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
- Degree in Communications, Digital Media, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
