Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centred clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

Position Overview

Reporting to the Radiation Safety Coordinator, the incumbent is responsible for the effective and efficient provision of clerical support for the Radiation Safety Office. Duties include:

 

  • Typing correspondence, reports and documents for the Radiation Safety Coordinator and Assistant Radiation Safety Coordinator.
  • Preparing draft radioisotope permits and associated summary documentation. Forwards approved radioisotope permits to users.
  • Entering radioisotope and radiation safety data on the computer and generating related reports and summaries.
  • Collecting required personal information before issuance of radiation dosimeters and distributes dosimeters to an identified staff group.
  • Keeping track of Nuclear Energy Workers (NEW) across the region by retaining copies of acknowledgment forms and creating a summary as to what NEW is working where, when they signed the acknowledgment, and when they left the facility/region.
  • Following up on financial report discrepancies.
  • Assisting with Radiation Safety Course including booking meeting facility, registering participants, preparing handout material and entering all the applicable data upon completion of the course. Preparing, printing out and distributing course certificates.

Experience

  • One year previous related experience in a hospital setting required.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Complete high school education, Manitoba standards, required.
  • Successful completion of a recognized secretarial training program required.
  • A combination of education and experience may be considered.

Qualifications and Skills

Typing 50 wpm required. Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access) required.

Knowledge of Visio preferred.

Medical Terminology (75% pass mark) and ionizing radiation terminology preferred.

Familiarity with SAP Time Entry and SAP Requisitioning and database entry experience preferred.

Radiation Safety Awareness training will be provided for the successful applicant.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.

Physical Requirements

  • The incumbent may be exposed to Ionizing Radiation.
  • Incumbent may be required to wear a Radiation Dosimeter Badge.
