Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient- centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.
Position Overview
Capital Planning carries out projects identified as strategic priorities for Shared Health and the Province of Manitoba. The Capital Planning office implements and drives essential change, innovation, and continuous improvement in support of the strategic plan and works with sites, programs, services and departments to deliver projects designed to improve quality or produce efficiency in the delivery of health care and patient-oriented services.
Shared Health Capital Planning provides leadership and management over a multi-million-dollar capital planning and construction portfolio, spanning the entire healthcare sector in Manitoba including hospitals, ambulatory clinics, personal care homes, community agencies and provincial programs.
The Project Manager - Lead position is a leadership role within the Capital Planning division and is a senior office resource with a clear understanding of the healthcare sector to ensure best practice for standardized capital project delivery. The position leads multiple capital projects providing direct management and coordination of all project resources through various phases of planning and construction ensuring that all stages of the capital planning process adhere to Shared Health policy and procedures, applicable standards and accepted design/construction compliance.
Experience
- Minimum 7 years of experience as a Project Manager, working on a diverse portfolio of projects with a proven track record of success with complex capital projects.
- Experience managing large complex project teams with multiple internal and external stakeholders.
- Must have extensive experience related to all phases of capital planning process including pre-planning, design development and coordination, public tendering, procurement and construction contract administration.
- Direct Healthcare capital project experience will be considered an asset.
- Working knowledge of business management, business ethics and management principles.
- Experience in one or more established capital project delivery methodologies.
- Must have extensive experience in applying project management methodology to complex cross-functional projects including all aspects of initiating, planning, executing, controlling and closing.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
- Post-secondary education and degree in Architecture, Engineering, Interior Design, Environmental Design, Project Management or a related field.
- Additional training and/or certification in Project Management, Building Code, Construction Contract Administration, Construction Specifications, LEED and EDAC is considered an asset.
- Demonstrated proficiency with computerized systems including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook), Microsoft Project and AutoCAD.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
- Must have a valid drivers’ license and vehicle.
Qualifications and Skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines and apply effective time management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to provide mentoring, coaching and training to Project Managers and Project Coordinators.
- Good understanding and management of budgets, schedules, financial statements as they relate to capital projects.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal format.
- Must have demonstrated skill in developing, maintaining and enhancing internal and external customer relationships.
- Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems, organize results, and monitor and report on project progress.
- Demonstrated ability to identify and use effective risk management strategies.
- Must have experience in facilitation, negotiation and conflict resolution.
- Knowledge and understanding of health care standards, Workplace Health & Safety Regulations and Infection, Prevention, and Control Measures.
- Must maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
