Position Overview
Under the overall direction of the PRINCIPAL INVESTIGATOR(S), and while demonstrating a commitment to the Mission, Values and Management Philosophy of St. Boniface Hospital, the RESEARCH NURSE is responsible for assisting with the co-ordination of various research projects. The RESEARCH NURSE, is responsible for assisting the INVESTIGATOR(S) in various research related responsibilities, which include: patient recruitment and enrollment; assisting with the development and maintenance of source documents, case report forms, study correspondence, related study documents, and the study binder; preparation and submission of required regulatory documents for research; gathering and transcribing data for research studies; assistance with tracking costs and payments for research studies; preparation, submission and follow-up of required committee and board approval(s) for the conduct of clinical research; preparing reports, statistics, and other quantitative data regarding the project research activities on a regular basis; liaison with appropriate departments and external agencies, to ensure ongoing smooth operations of the research project; and performing other related duties as assigned and required.
Experience
- Two (2) years recent nursing experience in medicine, emergency, cardiology, and/or surgery required.
- Previous clinical research study co-ordination required.
- Ability to perform phlebotomy, required.
- Experience in clinical research and knowledge of research protocols and methodologies required.
- Working knowledge of Good Clinical Practice guidelines, PHIA and the Tri-Council Policy Statement on Research required.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
- Current C.R.N.M registration required.
- Baccalaureate of Nursing preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

- Knowledge of computer systems and proficiency in the use of spreadsheet, word processing, internet and email applications is required.
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication skills required.
- Demonstrated clinical competence required.
- Demonstrated ability to manage projects required.
