Job Summary:
The Clinical Research Assistant will support the Manitoba Tumour Bank and the Paul Albrechtsen Research Institute at CancerCare Manitoba (CCMB).
The Clinical Research Assistant will primarily be responsible for:
- Screening and recruiting new project participants
- Assisting with organization and scheduling of study appointments
- Obtaining informed consent from eligible participants
- Assisting in the collection of biospecimens from patients
This position will actively ensure adherence to research protocols, procedures, reporting requirements and/or facility regulations are being followed. The Clinical Research Assistant will also be assisting with research project administrative activities.
Qualifications:
Required:
Level of Formal Education & Experience
- Undergraduate degree in a health-related field
-or-
- A diploma in a health-related field with a minimum of 3 years of experience in a research environment.
An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Skills and Abilities
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with a multidisciplinary team
- Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Strong time management skills, attention to detail, ability to multi-task, flexibility, initiative and independent decision-making skills.
- Critical/analytical thinking skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team.
- Ability to safeguard confidentiality.

Physical Requirements
- Must be able to work safely in a typical office environment with frequent meetings at multiple locations throughout the organization, and to lift and carry items

- Must have satisfactory employment record
- Must be legally able to work in Canada
Preferred:
- Experience working in a health-care environment.
- Project Management experience.
- Experience in a research-related healthcare setting.
- Ability to speak French
