Position Overview

Under the general supervision of the Program Director of the WRHA Manitoba Renal Program and in collaboration with the site renal educators, the incumbent is responsible for:


  1. Regional educational program development for Renal Nursing staff including R.N.s, L.P.N.s, R.P.N.s., U.A.s, N.A.s, U.C.s and  Dialysis Technicians.
  2. Regional and site teaching and learning activities.
  3. Nursing practice standards.
  4. Patient education development.
  5. Professional and Self Development.


Note:  The priority and percentages of each of the above functions will vary throughout the year and possibly from year to year.  Time spent at individual sites will vary depending on need as assessed from time to time by the Regional Nurse Educator.


  • Must have a minimum of four years recent related nursing experience with demonstrated competency in dialysis/renal clinical practices. 
  • Previous experience in teaching, education and program development and evaluation is required.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing required. 
  • Masters Degree in Nursing is preferred (equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered).
  • Completion of the MNNC required. 


  • Must be registered or eligible for registration with the College of Nurses of Manitoba (C.R.N.M.).

  • Computer literacy and competency with Word and PowerPoint required.

  • Evidence of knowledge of the principles of adult learning and teaching strategies.

Physical Requirements

  • Hours of work are flexible and may include evening, night or weekend shifts as required.
  • Good physical and mental health.

Salary is commensurate with education and qualifications.


This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
