Position Overview

Under the general supervision of the DLC Chief Allied Health Officer, Regional Directors of Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy and the Program Director of the Long Term Care Program, the Regional Manager is responsible for: Providing leadership and expertise to occupational therapists, physiotherapists and rehabilitation assistants who work within the assigned sector. Managing the day to day operations of the Movement Disorder Clinic in collaboration with the Chief Neurologist. Developing standardized protocols and policies for prevention, identification, assessment, treatment and education activities. Providing consultation and leadership for rehabilitation issues for programs and services across sectors as needed. Coordinating and modifying rehabilitation activities within their sector. Enhancing continuity of care within the discipline across sectors.


  • Minimum of seven years recent, relevant clinical experience demonstrating increasing levels of responsibility required. Previous experience as a supervisor or manager is preferred. Experience in program planning, development and evaluation required.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree of Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy required.
  • Master’s degree or certification in health care administration, business administration or a related field preferred.
  • Formal health care management, financial management and computer systems training preferred.
  • Working knowledge of health care administration, including but not limited to financial control, personnel management, planning, reporting and communications.
  • Involvement in education and research required.
  • Advanced training in appropriate sector.


  • Registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of Manitoba or the College of Physiotherapists of Manitoba. Maintains membership in related provincial and/or national professional associations.

  • Ability to initiate, support and implement change.
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of evidence based practice.
  • General knowledge of the regulations and scope of practice documents that guides the practice of occupational therapists, physiotherapists and relevant support workers.
  • Working knowledge of the legislative acts governing the delivery of occupational therapy and physiotherapy services.
  • Knowledgeable about quality management and discipline specific accreditation standards.
  • Ability to critically think, analyze, conceptualize, and apply relevant knowledge to practice.
  • Expert organizational, interpersonal, problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Effective oral and written communication, interpersonal and role-modeling skills.
  • Ability to facilitate staff working to the professional expectations of the practice.
  • Ability to facilitate education through the principles of teaching adult learners.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with program, discipline and other administrative directors. Ability to sustain effective relationships across sectors within the discipline.
  • Ability to work with minimal direction.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continued professional development.
  • Sound knowledge of budgets and financial reporting systems.
  • Ability to function in a computerized environment.

  • May be required to work evenings or weekends.
  • May be exposed to infectious diseases, blood and body fluids, radiation, toxic materials, allergens, physical and emotional stress.
  • May encounter aggressive and/or agitated clients/visitors/staff.
  • Ability to attend meetings and supervise staff at multiple sites.
