Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient- centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.
Position Overview
Provide fire safety leadership, guidance and assistance for all Regional facilities including hospitals, Long Term Care (LTC), Personal Care Homes (PCH’s), Community Health Services occupancies and Corporate spaces.
Experience
- At least 5 years as a Fire Marshall in a large institutional setting or as a Fire Inspector in a large municipal fire department required.
- This experience would involve reading, interpreting and applying fire and building codes and standards to occupied institutional buildings.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
- Complete high school education, Manitoba standards. Diploma from a recognized 3 year technical college program.
- Completion of IFSAC (international fire service accreditation congress) certified courses in the following are required: NFPA 472, Hazardous Materials Awareness training, NFPA 1031, “Fire Inspector”, Level I & II and NFPA 1035, “Public Fire & Life Safety Educator”, Level I.
- Certification in Fire Protection and Emergency Planning would be an asset.
- Formal training on applicable building codes and standards would be an asset.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
- NFPA 472, 1031 (Levels I and II) and 1035 IFSAC Accredited course completions.
- City of Winnipeg Fire Extinguisher Training License to conduct fire extinguisher training.
Qualifications and Skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of Provincial Acts and Regulations relative to fire protection and prevention.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the Manitoba Building and Fire Codes.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Municipal Codes and By-laws relative to fire protection and prevention.
- Demonstrated knowledge of NFPA and ULC Standards for fire protection installations.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the Manitoba Workplace Safety & Health Act & Regulations in particular how they interface with fire and life safety.
