JOB SUMMARY:
The Recreation (Activity) Worker is responsible for planning, implementing and conducting holistic recreational programs to assigned residents on an individual and a group basis. The Recreation (Activity) Worker will also participate and assist in the development and implementation of the overall recreational program for the Home. The position will promote the Mission of the Sisters Servants of Mary Immaculate by supporting the care values regarding the provision of quality care, loving environment, Christian ideals and principles, respect for life and dignity of person, and preservation of our traditional ethnic customs.
SCHEDULE & HOURS:
- 7 shifts per pay period
- 10:00 AM - 3:30 PM
- Days Mondays - Fridays and every other weekend
- Must be available to work special events as required
Job Qualifications:
- A minimum of the Therapeutic Recreation Facilitator for Older Adults (RRC) or its equivalent.
- Capable of working directly with the elderly in the area of social/recreational programming
- Previous experience in a similar facility or program is desirable
- Be able to transport and transfer residents safely. Must be able to lift a minimum of 15 – 20 kg
- Possesses good physical and mental health, and good attendance to meet the requirements of the position
- Possess effective communication skills and a demonstrated ability to interact with the residents, residents’ families and members of the interdisciplinary team
- Ability to communicate in the Ukrainian language and knowledge of Ukrainian culture and spirituality is an asset
- Musical education and ability is an asset
- Basic computer skills and knowledgeable with the MDS/Care Path policy standards
- Must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19
This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
Must be fully COVID-19 vaccinated.
