Job Summary:
Reporting to the Lead Developer, the Programmer Analyst is responsible for the analysis,development, and implementation of program and application modules within comprehensiveinformation systems. The incumbent will provide ongoing support and development of the CancerCare Manitoba (CCMB) Cancer Informatics Platform, the cancer registry and screeningregistries. Specifically, the incumbent will:
- Provide administrative and technical user support in response to escalations from the service desk
- Plan, implement and document upgrades or new application installations to expand the scope of services as part of a project team
- Provide tier 2 responses to incidents and problems escalated by the service desk including independently triaging, investigating, escalating or resolving, and documenting assigned incidents or problems
- Ensure the integrity and integration of data across the organization
- Ensure effective collaboration with all members of the work team to inform stakeholders of progress and resolutions.
In a collaborative and co-operative environment, the incumbent must be able to communicate effectively within the Department of Cancer Clinical Information Management (CCIM) and also act as a technical liaison with other departments of CCMB
Qualifications:
Education
- Post secondary education in Computer Science or related discipline from an accredited educational institution.
- Oracle/Sun certified Java programmer certification is an asset
- Certified information technology/management training is an asset
Experience
- 3 years current experience as a Programmer Analyst
- Experience with Sybase and Oracle databases, writing stored procedures, triggers and creating database objects.
- Experience in database reporting and query design
An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
Skills and Abilities
- Experience problem solving and providing application support in a production environment
- Demonstrated expertise in all aspects of the software development life cycle
- Ability to adapt emerging industry leading information management technologies
- Experience in systems analysis and working with complex interfaces is an asset
- Demonstrated application support experience in healthcare environment is an asset
Required Licenses, Registrations, Designations
- Active member in good standing of an associated regulatory body as appropriate
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
- Must be able to work safely in a typical computerized office environment with frequent meetings at multiple sites throughout the organization, and to lift and carry items.
- May require extended or flex hours.
