Position Overview
Provides experienced administrative and secretarial support to the assigned program. Functions under the philosophy, policies and procedures of the program and Hospital.
Experience
- A minimum of 5 years secretarial experience, of which 2 years are at a senior level.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
- Grade XII.
- Completion of recognized secretarial or business office training program and/or community college program.
- Completion of a medical terminology course.
Qualifications and Skills
- Preference will be given to individuals with computer proficiency and knowledge of a variety of software programs, including scheduling systems.
- Excellent organizational skills, flexibility and independence in completing work assignments and complex accounting tasks.
- Excellent knowledge of English grammar, spelling and punctuation.
- Familiar with Collective Agreements.
- Proficiency in taking, transcribing and editing of minutes, which may require attendance at evening meetings.
- Minimum typing speed 65 wpm.
- Work independently with limited direction.
- Prioritize and schedule work to meet deadlines.
- Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing with all staff, outside agencies and general public.
- Work in harmony with others.
This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
