Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

 

Position Overview

Under the general direction of the Shop Manager or Director - Maintenance Services, the incumbent is responsible to implement preventive maintenance schedules, and institute, plan and document commissioning and routine equipment inspections for the equipment/systems under the responsibility of the Shop. Ensures that all equipment of the Shop requiring regular maintenance is properly scheduled within the computerized preventive maintenance system. Assists the Manager in the management of service contractors and consultants including tendering, service monitoring, site orientation and quality issues. Assists the Manager in developing procedures in the operation and maintenance of all types of building equipment. Advises the Safety and Training Coordinator of any equipment necessitating additional training for proper maintenance. The incumbent also maintains updated reports on various aspects of the preventive maintenance program for Maintenance Management.

Experience

  • At least five years’ experience, preferably in a hospital environment, in all phases of commissioning, start up, technical system documentation, preventive maintenance planning and service planning of:
    • Electronic Shop: electronic building systems including, but not limited to, fire alarm, access control video surveillance, nurse call systems, network and data communications systems, public address systems, inter-com, panic alarms, wireless communication and tracking and other specialty building communication and life safety systems, required.
    • Demonstrated ability to comprehend, develop, expand and implement extensive preventive maintenance programs required.
    • Experience in development of commissioning procedures, and reading, interpreting and verifying contract documents (drawings, specifications and submittals) required.
    • Knowledge of project design process, maintenance contract administration and related codes and CSA standards required.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Complete high school education, Manitoba standards required. Electronic or Instrumentation Technology Diploma and eligible for registration with the Certified Technicians and Technologists Association of Manitoba (CTTAM) or a Manitoba Journeyperson Electrician license required.

 

SPECIAL TRAINING:

  • Knowledge of, and experience with, the development of computerized preventive maintenance programs preferred.
  • Knowledge of design, construction and maintenance codes and standards specific to healthcare facilities.

Certification/Licensure/Registration

  • Electronics Shop: Eligibility for registration with CTTAM required or a Manitoba Journeyperson Electrician license required.

Qualifications and Skills

  • The incumbent must be self-motivated and possess strong analytical, organizational, interpersonal and communication skills, and an aptitude for customer service.

Physical Requirements

  • Good manual dexterity required.
  • Position may require working from ladders, scaffolding, high level platforms or in confined spaces and enclosures.
  • May require extended periods of intense mental and visual concentration, working with very detailed drawings and technical specifications.
