Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centred clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

Position Overview

Under the general direction of the Chief Engineer, and in accordance with the requirements of the Provincial Licensing Standard:


Operates, under the general direction of the Shift Engineer, or assists the Shift Engineer in the safe and efficient operation of equipment. Repairs under the general direction of the Shift Engineer, or assists in the maintenance and repair of high pressure boilers, refrigeration compressors, air compressors, diesel engines and generators, electric motors, pumps, turbines and all equipment necessary to supply and deliver steam, chilled water, compressed air, emergency electrical power and fire-main-loop high pressure water to meet the requirements of the Centre.


  • Minimum of three years experience as a shift/maintenance engineer, preferably in a health care, commercial or institutional setting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, required.
  • Experience in the maintenance and repair of high pressure boilers, refrigeration compressors, air compressors, diesel engines and generators, pumps, turbines and related equipment required.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Complete high school education, Manitoba standards, preferred.


  • Valid and current Manitoba Third Class Power Engineer's certificate required.

Physical Requirements

  • Good physical and mental health and manual dexterity.
  • Takes extreme care in performance of tasks which can be in close proximity to exposed high temperature piping, rotating equipment and high voltages.
  • Work area is subject to high temperature, humidity and noise.

Preference will be given to those applicants competent in an Indigenous language and/or knowledge in Indigenous customs, traditions and values.
