Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

 

Position Overview

Under the general direction of the Pediatric Cardiovascular Technologist Supervisor, the incumbent will receive practical experience and theory in preparation for the RDCS/PE examination.

The incumbent is responsible for providing patient services in the: Echocardiography Laboratory, Heart Catheterization Laboratory, Electrocardiography Laboratory, Exercise 
Laboratory and Holter Monitoring. In addition, the incumbent assists with research activities and performs a variety of general duties.

 

Note: Following adequate orientation and skill development, the incumbent must participate in the callback rotation which operates for technologists after hours and on weekends. When emergencies present, the incumbent will be asked to work overtime as part of the callback rotation.

Experience

  • Previous clinical experience preferred.
  • 2 years of pre-existing experience as an Adult Echo Technologist required.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Successful completion of one-year ultrasound program with subspecialties in Cardiovascular Physics and Adult and/or Pediatric Echocardiography required.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered by the Centre.

Certification/Licensure/Registration

  • Must be a registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) with the ARDMS (American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers). 
  • Must become registered in Pediatric Echocardiography (RDCS/PE) within two years of hire at which point the role will be upgraded to Pediatric Cardiovascular Technologist.
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training requirements for this position shall be in accordance with the Employer policy.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Applicants must have passed their ARDMS AE examination or their Sonography Canada AE examination credentials to be considered for this position.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to perform the essential physical requirements of the position including manual dexterity required.
