Position Overview

The incumbent, specializing in ocular motility, assists the Ophthalmologist with the diagnosis and treatment of visual system dysfunctions involving eye alignment, eye movement, binocularity and vision.

Experience

  • Previous related experience preferred.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Complete high school education, Manitoba standards.
  • Successful completion of a 24 month Canadian Orthoptic Council approved training program (including academic and clinical instruction) required. (Note: Canadian Orthoptic Council requires a pre-requisite of a university degree with emphasis on the sciences prior to the 24 month training program) Must meet ongoing continuing education requirements of the Canadian Orthoptic Council.

Certification/Licensure/Registration

  • Certificate from a Canadian Orthoptic Council approved 24 month training program required.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word, required.
  • Knowledge of Maxgold software preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Good physical and mental health and manual dexterity.
