Position Overview
Under the general direction of the Interim Regional Director - Occupational and Environmental Safety and Health, and while demonstrating a commitment to the Mission, Values and Management Philosophy of the WRHA, the Operations Manager for Occupational and Environmental Safety & Health is responsible for:
- Supporting all Occupational Health and Safety programs for the integrated WRHA for both regional and Covid-related priorities.
- Assist the Interim Regional Director with regional and provincial Covid-related priorities, including supporting the program areas to implement the required directives and initiatives.
- Coordinating the development and implementation of programs, policies and procedures that protect and promote health in the workplace based on actual and potential health and safety hazards.
- Participate in all healthcare transformation work related to the realignment of the department into the provincial structure as determined by Shared Health, as delegated by the Interim Regional Director.
The main purpose of this position to provide operational support to the programs operating under the Occupational and Environmental Safety and Health Program and assist in planning for the transition to a provincial health and safety program as part of the healthcare transformation plan. This will include aligning the program areas in terms of program development, policy and procedure to support the transformation plan. This position will work with a variety of other program areas to ready the department for this organizational change.
The position will also assist with any COVID-19 related priorities, both regional and provincial to support the work of the department.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
- Experience managing large scale projects to resolution.
- Demonstrated ability to manage transition and change, including realigning program, policies and procedures affecting multiple program areas.
- Computer knowledge and experience with basic database software applications an asset.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
- Degree or certificate in management, business, project management or change management required.
- Master’s degree preferred.
- Training or certification in occupational safety and health related discipline(s) required.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
- Project Management certification preferred.

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment.
