Position Overview

Under the general direction of the Administrative Coordinator - Fit Testing and as a collaborative member of the multi disciplinary team, the incumbent is responsible for acting in a technician role to assist with the delivery of an N95 Respirator Fit Testing Program.  This involves fit testing healthcare workers, educating them about the use and care of respirators, and addressing any questions or concerns from staff. The role involves selecting an appropriate respirator, carrying out the fit test, use of a Portacount to ensure a valid test result, and providing verbal instruction during the fit test. 

Experience

  • Several years in Workplace Health & Safety, preferably in a health care environment an asset.
  • Experience in the delivery of Occupational Health & Safety educational material preferred.
  • Experience in providing education around the proper use and care of N95/Half-Face respirators preferred.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Complete High School education, Manitoba Standards, required.
  • Post-Secondary Education in Occupational Health & Safety preferred.
  • Post-Secondary Education in Respiratory Therapy will be considered. 
  • A combination of Education and experience will be evaluated. 

 

SPECIAL TRAINING

  • Knowledge and interpretation of all aspects of the Workplace Manitoba Safety & Health Act and Manitoba Regulations an asset.
  • Training in respirator fit testing will be provided.
  • Completion of computer training in Basic Computer Skills.

Certification/Licensure/Registration

  • Current First Aide Certificate.
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training requirements for this position shall be in accordance with the Employer policy.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to problem-solve.
  • Comfortable with using technology, and troubleshooting issues when they arise.
  • Strong attention to detail and data entry.
