Position Overview

Under the general supervision of the Manager, the Registered Nurse will provide professional registered nursing services to students within the Rady Faculty of Health Sciences Immunization Program. Services include providing immunization and testing to healthcare students in various programs including: Dental Hygiene, Dentistry (including undergraduate and graduate programs), Genetic Counselling, Medicine (undergraduate only), Nursing (including Bachelor, Masters, and PhD programs), Occupational Therapy, Pathology Assistant, Pharmacy, Physical Therapy, Physician Assistant Studies and Respiratory Therapy. Offices are located at the University of Manitoba, Bannatyne and Fort Garry Campuses. The Registered Nurse will demonstrate a commitment to the vision, values, goals, and objectives of the region/facility/unit.

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years nursing experience preferably in a public health/community health, occupational health or critical care setting (ICU, ER).
  • Previous experience providing immunizations and tuberculin skin testing and interpretation required.
  • Previous experience with PHIMs, Echart and Accuro an asset.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Graduate of an approved Registered Nursing education program required.
  • Baccalaureate degree in Nursing preferred.

Certification/Licensure/Registration

  • Current BLS certification required.
  • Responsible for maintaining and providing proof of registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM).
  • Valid Manitoba Class 5 Drivers License required.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Knowledge of the University of Manitoba policies and systems is preferred.
  • Successful completion of EPIC (Education Program for Immunization Competencies for Health Care Professionals) an asset.
  • Must have the ability to exercise judgment, make decisions, deal with complex matters and work with minimal supervision.
  • Must have the skills and ability to handle highly confidential material, multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Effective interpersonal as well as oral and written communication skills.
  • Able to deal effectively and professionally with staff at all levels.

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment.
